Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

パッチワークスタイル!大好きです。 ^^
I like the chinese cut of the jacket. I can’t stop looking at the outfit, I like it so much! I think it looks kinda peruvian ^^U hehe

@Maria: Yes, I kind of thought the same thing. 本当にちょっとペルーにありそうなスタイルだね!

I wan’t this patch work jacket. I’ll skip college, jump into the next plane, fly to Japan and I will buy this jacket. Those were my thoughts when I saw this picture :-). I like how he mixed so much different colours, patterns and drapery and still his outfit works out. It seems to me Japanese people have a really good sense of fashion and especially composure. If I were to go crazy with patterns and colours like this, I’d only look like I wanted to disguise myself but for them it always turns out good. I’m a bit jealous ^^

@ KD: How nice of you! But I’ll be on a trip to Berlin first, so I might leave visiting Tokyo for later. I’ll definitly go there someday, though! About the jacket, I thought about doing something like it myself. Thanks for taking all this great photos! :-) I find these very inspiring and it kind of makes me happy to see how people fearlessly wear what they want to and express themselves and how they enjoy it ^^

@Dörrie Banana: Berlin is great. Would love to visit there again. Where do you live, Dörrie?

I live in the country side in the very north of Germany, actually pretty close to the border to Denmark. I can only agree with you, Berlin IS a great city. I’ve just experienced that once again. But I won’t stay in Germany much longer as I’m already making plans to go to Ireland for 6 months or so to work as an au pair. If you decide to visit Germany though or find the time, I’ll gladly welcome you at the airport, too ;-)

@Dörrie Banana: “in the very north of Germany, actually pretty close to the border to Denmark” — Oh, I love that area. Very beautiful. But I used to mostly visit Southern Germany, though. Crazy about the mountains and architecture from the Middle Ages!
