About the PhotographerInspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

How did I know she would work at Grimoire? :) Love her socks, and the vest looks especially cozy. Interesting necklaces, too. The collar is the only thing that’s throwing me off, how on earth would a priest sash fit into Dolly Kei? I guess it’s vintage, and it looks cool, so don’t question it, right? ;)

i kind of agree about the collar, but can see why she added it in, she probably really liked it xD plus the colors match so it still works :] i really love this ahaha i spent a lot of time looking at it on the home page! And i think it does the shop good too because if you love how she put pieces together from the shop a customer will be inclined to do the same C:

Wow. wow wow wow.
I really like this.
I mean, the colors are beautiful! The heavy appearance of the fabric and the gorgeous patterns of the actual garments makes me think of some kind of gorgeous traditional robe that would have been seen many years ago, somewhere. plus, the background of the shop really adds on to the effect.

@ Et$une
Yes Et$une, you’re perfectly right on the traditional look of Grimoire’s fashion. It is exactly that! Hitomi Nomura’s first inspiration actually is old Eastern Europe and its folklore. I think we really can feel this atmosphere in Grimoire’s fashion. If you are or come to Tokyo, visit their shop, you will love it, I am sure!
@ Kjeld
Thank you Kjeld. Although, I hope I wasn’t not to annoying to them…

@Valerie: Oh, yes, I’d LOVE to visit to Tokyo someday! I’d maybe even like to move there.
Maybe. I’m not completely sure, and I only know very, very few words in Japanese, but I love the culture, and i LOVELOVELOVE seeing something as beautiful and traditional as this. It’s not like traditional is my favorite or anything, but seeing this after seeing all the (mostly) bright and new fashion is sort of like a breath of fresh air. It’s a gorgeous sight to see, and seeing this among all the photos of newer fashions makes it even more surprising. Plus, the shop itself looks very gorgeous. Hopefully, I will be able to visit it some day!!

The Grimoire kids inspired me to buy a tassel-belt a year ago, and now I’m hunting for an old priest sash. There’s actually quite a few of them around at the flea markets here in NYC. But wow, dolly kei is definitely my next “big” style. :3 Amazing work, Valerie!

I visit this site for a long time now, but I felt compelled to comment after seeing Heri.
(Ah! I’m a fan from Portugal!!)
I was in japan 2 years ago, and I feel very sad because I didn’t visit a Grimoire store ;(.
Now about the look, I absolutely love it! She looks like a magician __, and I can’t stop looking at this outfit.
The wings necklace, the belt and the socks are my favourite items.
Well done Heri!!
