Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Wow, going for a high budget casual look! It’s not bad but I feel the glasses are out of place, and they are too narrow for his face. Apart from that, I love the shoes :P.

@Lia: Those glasses gave me a very hard time. They reflected like mirrors, so I had to find most unusual angles to keep myself out of the picture! In the top picture, I am standing right in front of him. When you see the original at a very large size, you can actually see me on both sides of his nose… LOL

@Kjeld – I know how you feel. I had the same problem when I tried photographing a friend of mine a couple of months ago. Everything was perfect – great setting, amazing outfit, pretty girl wearing it, and then those shades! I did the exact same as you have with these pictures, otherwise she’d seen me hanging on both her nostrils afterwards :).
Anyway, I still feel the glasses are a bit out of place in this picture. They are too “too cool for school” for his overall look, in my opinion.

i have a giant collection of sunglasses, so i LOVE his very much. he’s very put together but not too “pressed” looking. it looks very natural.

You see the top half of the first picture and it’s like woah! He’s so cool! Then you scroll down and see the REST of the picture. And it’s like he forgot his pants. I think he looks cool, kinda. I love the shoes and for someone reason I really love the way the shirt hem is at the bottom. However, if he was in America, people would probably wonder wear his pants were. But i suppose it’s because typically in America, guys almost never wear shorts that are above the knee. Ever. But yeah.
This guy is cool, and I’d like to see what he looks like behind his glasses.

@Etsune: There are some people in Japan, too, who might feel uncomfortable about Tomoya’s shorts. But in Harajuku, Tomoya is cool. Glad you like his outfit!

@Kjeld: I somewhat find the shorts amusing. But I seriously LOVE the shirt. =)

@Etsune: I find it quite interesting that Tomoya's shorts attract so much attention. ^ _ ^

@Kjeld: Right? They’re quite scandalous XDDD
But I suppose that’s mostly because he looks like he’s half dressed hahaha. And that kind of thing tends to attract attention….
