Lately vintage and soft colors like cream are in 99% of TS’s photos…I love it n_n
Looks like that’s latest fashion, maybe I am going to start buying soft color clothes :P
Hanako is so pretty! Her eyes really catch you!

@Maria: Yes, you noticed that well. Mori Girl (above) and Dolly (or Dolly Kei — dressed like an antique European doll) are quite popular. Expect more of this kind of fashion over the next few weeks and months.

Hanako has wonderfully expressive eyes, doesn’t she!

Nice tidbit: Tomorrow some photos go live, in the background of one of which you can see a German TV crew shoot Marie shooting Hanaka. See if you can find it tomorrow!

The German crew was making a program about JS for German and Austrian TV. After it has been on air we will show it on our blog as well.

@Marie: Thumbs up for soft colour clothes! Hanako’s coloured contact lenses are relatively expensive and the colours are very unique:) Her light brown eyes which is rare for Japanese doubles the uniqueness.

WOW! I was SOO glad that I got to see you guys scout her that day! She is one of the coolest street snap people I have ever seen. I like that she is smiling here..I saw her around Harajuku more that day and she always had a super worried or sad look on her face. She must be really shy!

@Lactose Intoler-Art: I briefly talked to Hanako, and I think you’re absolutely right, she seemed extremely shy. Even so, almost every photo of her face that Marie took featured a completely different facial expression (kudos to Marie!), so it was actually quite difficult to make a selection.

She looks like she jumped out of Dragon Quest or something! An interesting look and I like the running colour scheme. Not for the cigarette, mind.

Mel

@Mel: Dragon Quest! Haha, cool.

@Lactose Intoler-Art: I can’t agree with you more! Hanako is just… wow! Do you remember how I screamed, “Oh my goodness,” when I found her? Thank you very much for your company and I’m already looking forward to going to Harajuku with you, Emi and Kjeld!

@Kjeld: I’m not too sure but I guess Hanako was acting in a special way kind of on purpose and I personally think it might be part of her fashion! Hanako's behavior and style remind me of Jack Sparrow for some reason.

@Mel: That’s so true! There is this famous Japanese video game called Seikendensetsu and I randomly took a look at the website because Hanako’s style reminded me of the game. Please visit the website and check out the characters of 聖剣伝説 (seikendensestu) 4! I wouldn’t think it’s strange even if Hanako was one of them. Funny thing, Hanako stressed that she hadn’t been influenced by any Japanese games.

@Kjeld: By the way, Hanako was very cool and mature when she saw her friends after shooting!

It is very interesting, even for me, to read some of the backstage info. Thanks, Marie.

Hanako is my favorite mori girl that I have seen yet!
Marie Sasago About the Jack Sparrow comment: Interesting how a personality can be like an outfit; how it can be put on and changed to fit a style.

Arc
Aug 16, 2010 (2473 days ago)

@Arc: Great observation. It reminds me of the famous passage by William Shakespeare from As You Like It:

===
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts…
===

And one man would these days, I guess, be And one person … ^ O ^

I like your words comparing a personality with a style or an outfit a lot better!

@Kjeld: Thanks! That’s very interesting. I never would have thought of that passage in relation to style but in many ways it makes sense!

Arc

@Arc: The old bard himself would be surprised, I think. ^ _ –

Her makeup and expressions somehow remind me of an actress in a French play. I think I’ve got all sorts of Phantom of the Opera/Moulin Rouge references coming to mind.

Oh, and what you guys said. xD

After seeing Hanako here I just had to go and read more about the Mori Girl style, and I have to say it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite Japanese street styles ^^

Anya
Aug 17, 2010 (2472 days ago)

@Anya: Mori Girl is cool. Please also check out Dolly Kei, which is increasing in popularity and offers a lot more freedom than Mori Girl (the Mori Girl style has a list of strict rules to limit the number of people who will dress like this).

Kjeld Duits
Aug 17, 2010 (2472 days ago)

@Kjeld Duits: It does? :O Didn’t realize, tried to do some search about it in English but the descriptions I found were pretty vague – I guess I would have to know Japanese to find out more ^^ Could you give me some examples of the rules please, I’m very intrigued xD So far the main thing I noticed about it are the colours, the main ones seem to be light beige and cream.

Dolly Kei seems cool as well though, reading about it at the moment!

GAH! She’s so cute! Love the outfit, though the flip flops throw me off.

@Anya: It took a while, but we just posted an article listing all the 62 rules for Mori Girls, plus explanations by our new contributor Valerie Fujita.
