Kjeld Duits: @janus: I don’t think it’s an unusual style for Japanese women. But it’s not a style that’s often shown on blogs and in fashion magazines, perhaps.
janus: Kind a minimalistic look for a Japanese girl I guess. It’s closer to European fashion. I like everything – colors, accessories, hairstyle. Very nice!
Boris: This girl just looked inside my soul.

Kjeld Duits: @Laura: Thank you, I think you just made Chipa very happy. ^^ Actually, she is studying fashion at Japan’s foremost fashion academy: Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo. Hopefully, one day soon she will be designing.
Laura: She is not only the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen. What a sense of style! Is she a designer? If not tell me WHY isn’t she designing?
Kjeld Duits: @Soru: Yes, I agree.

Kjeld Duits: @Maria: I seem to remember some hairstylists who also got free cuts, but perhaps I remember incorrectly.
Maria: @KD: I knew about the self-cuts, but it is interesting the salon scouting people, pretty cool n_n I asked because I saw it on people who was student, or sales person and not on people working for a salon, so I was wondering.
Kjeld Duits: @Emma: Yes, I thought so, too. Couldn’t stop shooting! @Maria: Actually, it is a very good question. I am glad you noticed and asked. There are usually two reasons for free haircuts. One is when people cut their own hair, this has become very common among young people in Japan. In that case it will say “(self)” or “(self-cut”) in the space for the brand. If the name of a beauty salon IS mentioned it almost always means that she works, or was scouted, as a hair model. There are lots of beauty salon scouts walking the streets of Harajuku. This is the case with Natsumi, she was scouted as a hair model and got a free hair cut. ^^

Kjeld Duits: @petitesam: Although I am not a great fan of smoking, it worries me that we move towards outlawing this vice. We know what happened when alcohol was outlawed in the US between 1920 and 1933 (Prohibition). It funded a dramatic growth of organized crime. Making the use of certain drugs illegal has also made many a criminal filthy rich and has raised violence to scary levels. I hope regulators aim to control usage, and don’t try to eradicate it (because they will surely create new bigger problems).
petitesam: @Kjeld a small smoking station where people are allowed to smoke. They were discussing this on the radio today how smoking has become unpopular, not only because of health risks, but also of stricter laws against tobacco use. Where I live, people are no longer allowed to smoke indoors, anywhere- let alone an organic restaurant! Certainly that affects the overall attitude towards cigarettes… Just food for thought :)
sabrina: she looks like she belongs in the show absolutely fabulous (ab fab), or in paris, sitting at a café, smoking and drinking an expresso.
