Anybody can study here, but you will need at least an intermediate level in Japanese. Most schools require that you pass a certain level of the Japanese Proficiency Test.

I think you mean scholarship? I don’t believe they do. But I suggest that you ask them for one directly.

@Ladorina: I haven’t been able to find any organized fashion internship programs, although individual companies may offer them. I suggest that you contact fashion companies directly, preferably by writing letters with your resume attached. Good luck!

Hi, i was wondering if anyone knew about any fashion summer internships or summer programs that i could attend. If you have any information please let me know. thanks :)

May 25, 2010 (4207 days ago)

@Dany: I know that companies approach students at Bunka Fukusou Gakuin with offers of internships. But the concept is not very well established in Japan, and many companies just see it as a chance to get low level workers for free. It barely helps to gain experience.

Unless you plan to study at Bunka, I suggest you research the Japanese fashion industry and approach companies yourself by writing individual letters and than following them up with phone calls. Don’t send e-mails, you won’t be taken seriously.

Good luck!

May 25, 2010 (4207 days ago)

@Kjeld Duits:
Thank you so much for your advice. it really helped me.

i would also like to ask you if you know about any companies that are accepting interns.

Thank you anyhow.

May 31, 2010 (4201 days ago)

@Dany: Although I have heard names bandied around, I am afraid I don’t know any specific companies that accept interns. Like I wrote above, research the industry and write the companies that you’re truly interested in. Instead of eating whatever is left on the table, I think you’ll do much better when you go hunting yourself.

There is a first year design teacher at this school that is really really really good. That teacher is amazing and ahead bought the Esmod standard up so much higher than before.

The staff here are really nice but the English course is not well established as the number of students enrolled in the English course are too small for them to open a class just for them do it is mixed in with the Japanese course with the help of a translator. For the English course students opportunities are equal except for when it comes to choosing electives because not all electives can be offered in English.

Jul 9, 2013 (3066 days ago)

This school has claimed to be internation above all other schools in Japan but it is just like any other school.
Foreigners are treated unfairly, not given the same rights, and the grades are biased. Foreigners are treated unfairly by both teachers and other Japanese students. When japanese students treat the foreigners unfairly and they notify teachers nothing is done. When the Japanese say doing something is not allowed to foreigners they will always do it themselves, like a hypocrite. Don’t expect internationality from a place like this.

Jan 30, 2015 (2496 days ago)

They offer full English translation for 2 years, and only require Japanese for 3rd year. Facilities aren’t as good as other schools, Bunka etc, but teachers are so great. There’s a second year teacher called Goto san who is amazing. So friendly, inspiring and knowledgeable. Class sizes are small so teachers will ask you questions and train you to think by yourself.
