Osaka branch of Bunka Fukusou Gakuin
Osaka Bunka Fukusou Gakuin was originally established in 1946 as Mikuni Yousai Jogakuin (Mikuni Girls’ School of Western Dressmaking). Licensed as a branch of Tokyo-based Bunka Fukusou Gakuin in 1952, the school changed to its current name.
Osaka Bunka Fukusou Gakuin has continuously updated its educational programs. Its first CAD system program was created in 1989, a computerized total design system was set up in 2005 and in 2007 a Brand Management Course was added.
Osaka Bunka Fukusou Gakuin’s facilities are of high quality and its location in Mikuni gives it a special attraction. It is close enough to Osaka to be convenient, but far enough away to not be part of the hustle and bustle of this large metropolis.
What is unique about Osaka Bunka Fukusou Gakuin is that the school offers students to create their very own brands. The products of these brands are sold at a real brick and mortar store managed and run by students and located in the center of Osaka’s busy business district. Students in this program are supported by professionals from the fashion industry.
Osaka Bunka Fukusou Gakuin aims to encourage their students to use their imagination as much as possible because the school believes that this is the achilles heel of many Japanese designers.
To inspire as well as educate, established fashion professionals like Sunao Kuwahara and Ryou Imai are invited to give lectures.
