Magazine for the ‘synthesis of female refinement’

With a tagline that translates a little like the ‘information magazine for the synthesis of female refinement’, Mrs. endeavors to attract married women in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s who want to live a fashionable and cultured life.

Although, almost half of its readers are full-time housewives, it also attracts a large percentage of working women. About three quarters of Mrs. readers have graduated from university and have an annual income of between 7 and 10 million yen, with 70 percent of them living in their own detached homes. Indeed, a readership that can actually afford a “fashionable and cultured life.”

The magazine goes beyond fashion into lifestyle features, especially food and travel.

Mrs. is published by Bunka Publishing Bureau, part of Educational Foundation Bunka Gakuen which also runs Bunka Fukusou Gakuin (Bunka Fashion College). Besides Mrs., Bunka Publishing Bureau also publishes the highly respected fashion magazines So-en and High Fashion
