RITSUKO SHIRAHAMA is a womenswear brand with a solid reputation. Showing regularly at the Tokyo Collections and Japan Fashion Week, it has a high profile in Japan and abroad.

Born in Tokyo in 1956, Ritsuko Shirahama majored in English and American Literature at Seikei University. After graduation, she studied at Bandan Design research Center, before joining Alpha Cubic Co., Ltd. as a designer.

Shirahama joined Almond Eye in 1983 and set up her fashion label “RITSUKO SHIRAHAMA” in 1984. Since 1996 the RITSUKO SHIRAHAMA label has been sold internationally, including the US and Europe. The RITSUKO SHIRAHAMA Daikanyama in Tokyo was opened in 1999.

RITSUKO SHIRAHAMA’s collection for the 2007 Spring/Summer Japan Fashion Week included a collaboration with former supermodel Helena Christensen, who provided photographs with political undertones that were imprinted on Shirahama’s tank tops.

RITSUKO SHIRAHAMA designs tend to be very feminine, while still empowering the wearer.
