Chic womenswear with a heavy accent on prints

Hokuto Katsui and Nao Yagi’s mintdesigns (ミントデザインズ) are a respected womenswear label with a store in Shibuya’s celebrated Parco. Beautiful prints and patterning are major elements of this label and they often play around with quirky headgear and lace.

Hokuto Katsui studied at Parsons School of Design in New York and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design before moving back to Japan and co-founding mintdesigns with Nao Yagi and Yusuke Takeyama in July 2001.

Nao Yagi graduated from Doshisha University in Fine Arts after which she attended Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Takeyama, who has left the company, was a graduate of Bunka Fashion College. After graduation, he worked for various brands in London and Paris.

In 2005, the label won the 7th Moët et Chandon New Designers’ Award. In 2007, the mintdesigns flagship shop was opened.

mintdesigns exports internationally and also produces a children’s line.
