Cute and kooky streetwear
Eri Utsugi’s mercibeaucoup (メルシーボーク), founded in 2005, has over the years garnered a lot of attention with quirky and cute collections of menswear and womenswear. Under the umbrella of Issey Miyake’s A-Net company, Utsugi managed to take the Japanese fashion scene by storm when it launched.
Formerly the head designer of Frapbois, Utsugi’s mercibeaucoup deals with all things cute and kooky. Childish and fun, she often plays with cute motifs and patterns.
Tokyo born Eri Utsugi (1966) graduated from the Apparel Design Course at Joshibi Junior College of Art and Design in 1986, after which she studied at Esmod Japon and Studio Bercot in Paris.
In 2005, she joined Issey Miyake’s A-net Inc. Her fashion label mercibeaucoup was launched in the same year. She debuted with her 2006-2007 Autumn/Winter collection.
