Expensive mix of high fashion and Tokyo street, 1997-2013

Founded in 1997 and closed down in 2013, Masaaki Homma’s legendary label Mastermind was one of Japan’s most renowned brands. It was especially active at collaborations with brands like, among others, LOEWE, Stussy, Undercover, and BAPE. The brand build its image by offering a slightly gaudy and rebellious rock n roll attitude at luxurious prices.

The Mastermind skull motif was easily recognizable and he made a name for himself for fun and pricey fashion. His menswear collections were shown in both Tokyo and Paris. During the 2007 A/W season, the brand also launched a line for women’s fashion.

The brand showed its final Spring/Summer 2013 collection in March 2013 before shutting down for good.
