Fukuro-obi
This is my Fukuro-obi. ^^
I took the picture with my pink Nagoya-obi, you can see the differense.
Fukuro-obi
Height 30cm
Length 4m
Fukuro, the word literally means "Sack/Bag".
This is the Obi for formal and semi-formal occassion.
but the Obi that I upload...since it was my granfather's mother had worn, it seems like too simple as fukuro-obi.
Most of Fukuro-obi that you can see at the kimono shops and department store these days are more gourgeous.
100% silk, embroidered design is common.^^
Nagoya-obi
Height 30cm
Length 3.6m
Nagoya, is the name of the prefecture.
It is easier to tie than the formal Fukuro Obi.
You can wear this type on formal occassion, but depends on the design, material, and its class.
I suppose this flower and adorable puppy Obi is for just casual use.

Interesting, Jinpachi. I didn't know this. By the way, Nagoya is a city and not a prefecture. The prefecture is Aichi.

Ahaha, I had moved a lot, but always the capital city was same name of the prefecture.
Nagasaki, Okayama, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Saitama.

Smart move! Japanese politicians are discussing to discontinue Japan's 47 prefectures and make larger (and therefore fewer) regions instead. There could be as few as 10 regions. You may have to learn everything anew one of these years...

ohhhhhh :0
actually, we don't have a TV in our house, so I haven't noticed.
I have to learn about France, too.
My boyfriend said I was Baka because I couldn't tell the differense between Côte d'Azur/south France and Côte d'Ivoire/Country of Africa.

I understand the mistake about Côte d'Azur/Côte d'Ivoire. I don't think you need to be too embarrassed. I found that many people in Europe didn't know the difference between Japan and China. In the past when I said that I lived in Japan, several times people in Europe said, "Oh, that country with all the bicycles, right?" Wrong!

Ah, that's true. haha
but My boyfriend's mom, she is blue eyed woman, but really likes Chinese culture.
She had studied Chinese, studing Japanese now.
and one of family members got married with another Japanese woman, they are living in Tokyo, raising two kids.
Most of friends are Asian-French, really "Otaku".lol
so they know a lot, maybe even more than me :o
When I talked to my friend that I went to France, they asked me "So, how was that... "Bocca della Verita", you put your hand in his mouth like a movie?"
No, I didn't...
