Cool. I want to follow in your footsteps. No clean beaches near where I live... If I drive for four hours, the beaches are great, though!

LOL. if you drive for four hours in nz, you could probably cross from the east coast to the west.. depending on where you were.
I dont get how people could mess a beach? they have the true beauty of freedom!

Actually, the four hour drive takes me across the mountains to the other side of Japan... So just like in NZ. I live in a very urbanized area, and the coast has been completely build up. Even 50 years ago the town where I live had beautiful sandy beaches with pine trees and fishing boats. Now it is high-rises and concrete levies...

Japan is all mountains. And lots of forest. About 60% of the country is forested. I believe that only five countries in the world have a large percentage of forested land. 3minutes away from the beach sounds wonderful. My parents used to have a small cottage near the beach and I spent all my Summers on the beach. Loved it.

You don't need to go far to find good subjects to shoot. You just need "fresh eyes". I actually got really fed up with travelling when I was away from home every month for more than 2 years in a row. Now that I have been home for a while, I feel ready to go again, but not as often as before.
