NAILLIST

Ms. Jody: “Almost naughty” describes her grin well. I was originally going to use a word with similar meaning, but I’m concerned it may be a regionalism and could be misunderstood, so I decided against including the term altogether. Anyway, I was trying to say something along the lines of “playfully mischievous.”
Kjeld Duits: @Ms. Jody: Yes, Nile can have a really lovely, almost naughty, grin sometimes. Glad that I was able to capture it. This time, Nile was inspired by the look of Oiran, the high class courtesans of old Japan.
Ms. Jody: The traditional clothing – the colors, texture of the fabrics and how they drape – really suit her. Plus she has the cutest grin in the first photo. My compliments to both the model and photographer.

Kjeld Duits: @Ms. Jody: I wasn’t aware that a hood trimmed with lace was not common. We learn something new every day!
Ms. Jody: I really like how she layered this. The cape is a beautiful shade of purple and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one with lace trim around the hood. On a side note, I have a nearly identical skirt, which is proof she and I both have great taste :)

Kjeld Duits: @Yumebi: It takes some courage, doesn’t it. But the results are amazing.
Yumebi: The combination is just awesome. I too love paring up softer, conservative styles & popping colours or ruff materials like leather. <3
Kjeld Duits: @Ms. Jody: I actually didn’t recognize it as Steampunk, but several people on Facebook also mentioned it…

Kjeld Duits: @Carrott: Indeed. Incidentally, you have the perfect name to comment on Tomato Ningen’s photos. ^_-
Carrott: I’ve seen a lot of those crocs sandals around and they’re very popular especially in summer in here, as I live on the coast, but those Minato’s are superb – why no produce something less boring that the standard style? :)

Kjeld Duits: @Joffrey: Thank you. I hope to be able to shoot lots more. ^_-
Joffrey: This is so very beautiful. It’s got that touch of summer from its floral accents and use of fabric flowers, those warm late-springlike colors to go with the darker, almost plumish tones. I think he’s got a fantastic sense of palette, and I really love the creativity he has with the oyoroi, and how those pieces of armor just blend in with the choice of fabrics. Well-taken photograph! Thank you for sharing. Wouldn’t have seen anything like it if you hadn’t taken a picture and shared it. :)
Kjeld Duits: @Cath: Thank you, Cath. The next ARTiSM MARKET will take place on Sept 27. It will be held near Asakusa Station: Metropolitan Industrial trade center Taito-kan 6F at 2-6-5 Hanakawado, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
