Deanne on Japanese TV

JAPANESE STREETS’ Deanne Tonking has recently been invited to several Japanese TV programs.

Kjeld Duits: You’re welcome, Deanne!
Deanne: Thank you so much for writing about all the TV and hooping fun I have been having lately! :)

Color on the Street: Purple

Lots of purple on the street. As both red and blue are popular at the moment, and purple is a color between these two, perhaps this is not so surprising

Kjeld Duits: Hahah, I love your afterthought, glenda: “again!!”
glenda: purple s baaaack….again!!
ojisanbaka: purple is my very favorite color.. im happy that is a trend now ‘coz i can get stuff in my fav color, on the other side – im sad, coz im not so unique haha..

Traditional Japanese Colors - Modern Trad

The resurgent popularity of kimono has given traditional Japanese colors new life. This is the second article in a series in which I explore some of these colors and their modern interpretations

Kjeld Duits: @kagitsune: I love the fashion of the 40s! I especially love the “restrained luxury” of the war years.
kagitsune: @Kjeld: Wow, that’s awesome! I’ve been on a real 1940’s kick… we’ll see what comes of it! ^^
Kjeld Duits: @kagitsune: I am totally with you on the mixing of (and learning from) different eras. I used to mix clothes from the 20’s (think pinstripe suits, straw hats, gaiters) with modern stuff and the results were always quite surprising.

Fashion Model Lena Fujii

Four video clips of Japanese fashion model, singer, and actress Lena Fujii

Kjeld Duits: Yes, absolutely. I always laugh when I see Western posing; I have gotten so used to the Japanese way! I am sure that people who have never yet seen Japanese posing are just as amused.
Sierra Sroka: This was so interesting! Japanese posing is so different from American model posing. That element of cute is so important in selling the image and clothing here.
Kjeld Duits: Thanks, nanaa, I thought it was nice to see someone doing her daily things.
